Why site speed matters for small businesses
· 1 min read · Jordan

When a page takes more than a few seconds to load, people leave. Google also uses Core Web Vitals as a ranking signal.
What we measure
- LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): under 2.5 seconds
- INP (Interaction to Next Paint): under 200 milliseconds
- CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift): under 0.1
How we keep sites fast
- Ship static HTML with almost no JavaScript.
- Serve modern image formats (AVIF and WebP) at the right size.
- Prerender the next page before you click, using Speculation Rules.
// Example: measuring LCP in the browser
new PerformanceObserver((list) => {
const last = list.getEntries().at(-1);
console.log('LCP', last.startTime);
}).observe({ type: 'largest-contentful-paint', buffered: true });
